Hailing from New Zealand and generally evergreen, leaves are often in pairs forming a criss-cross effect. It is a family of shrubs with many forms, including variegated leaves. This one is pinguifoila ‘Pagei’, with small leaves and small white flowers in May.

This moderately hardy evergreen shrub is Hebe ‘Midsummer Beauty’. Flowering throughout the Summer months, it makes a fairly small shrub.

Another type but with racemes of flowers growing up. Many varieties have coloured leaves.
