The Devil’s Walking Stick

Latin Name : Aralia spinosa

With viciously thorny stems, this tree earns its Common Name as being the Devil’s Walking Stick.

This image illustrates the terminal bud as it’s beginning to push through at the beginning of a new season, and will be about as thick as a Man’s thumb.

Whilst the unusually thorn laden bark is certainly a reason for aquiring an Aralia, they are also grown for their enormous Compound leaves, sometimes reaching 1.25M long and 0.6M wide, or even bigger.
