Prunus cerasifera

Rarely as a tree in gardens, although local councils and highway agencies often use it for roadside planting because of its dense twiggy habit. However as a hedge of either only green or only purple, it makes a very effective and attractive hedge. Alternate planting of blocks of green  and purple works well too.
