Lilac

Latin Name : Syringa vulgaris

Often thought of as a tree, Lilac is actually a shrub – having naturally multiple stems. An impressive show of flower appears in April/May, but it does require some space. Great scent from the flowers.

Syringa vulgaris showing the ‘Common’ lilac colour in the flowers.

An image which illustrates the leaf shape of Syringa. It’s not unlike the leaf of a Poplar Tree, so watch out when purchasing in the Summer time …

This lilac is called ‘Sensation’, and shows that Lilac shrubs don’t have to have Lilac flowers …

… they can also have white ones. This is ‘Madame Lemoine’.
