Kerria japonica is a reliable shrub, and adds a good splash of colour in Spring. Although with green twigs it appears to be evergreen, it is in fact deciduous.
This popular double flowering variety, Kerria japonica ‘Pleniflora’ gives a bigger impact than the type.
… and this occasionally seen variegated variety, Kerria japonica ‘Variegata’ lends an elegance and a slightly lower and spreading habit than the type.
