Eleagnus

A useful hardy family of evergreen shrubs.  Elaeagnus x ebbingei and Elaeagnus pungens ‘Maculata’ can be seen averywhere. Both make good hedges, having thorns hidden amongst their foliage. The insignificant flowers of E x ebbingei have a particularly wonderful scent in the winter months.

Eleagnus pungens ‘Maculata’ is a great foliage plant all through the year. However, they are inclined to revert to type because of the way that they are propagated. But don’t let that put you off.

Eleagnus x ebbingei

A potentially very large shrub which could be considered very boring. However, it’s insignificant winter flowers have the most amazing scent.

Eleagnus pungens ‘Maculata’ is the popular yellow/green variegated evergreen shrub which comes into its own in a sunny position during winter months
