Crocus

These are the small spring flowers that lift our spirits during the early days of Spring. So determined are they, that they will even push through the snow to cheer us up.

Whether you plant them in drifts or small groups, they never fail to please.

Put a few in a small pot, but be sure to guard them from the Squirrels!

This is the saffron Crocus from which the herb is gathered …

… and this is the ‘Autumn Crocus’ which isn’t a Crocus at all, because it’s name is Colchicum autumnale, and you will notice that it has no leaves.
