Telford provider of specialist gardening services is celebrating after winning two categories in the Home and Garden Awards 2021.

The Awards, hosted by BUILD magazine, were created to celebrate the individuals and firms working tirelessly to ensure homes and gardens across the UK are the best they can be.

In what were two very competitive categories, Priestgate Garden Specialists has been crowned as Best Landscape Gardening Company (West Midlands), while also winning Garden Build Project of the Year (West Midlands).

The latter came about following a nomination for a project delivered in Dawley Bank, where the customer had two small children and wanted to create a more practical space for them to enjoy safely in the garden to the rear of their property.  Priestgate’s solution included a patio extension, a newly levelled lawn and creation of space for a storage system to be implemented to reduce garden clutter.

The awards are just the latest in several awards the company has won in recent years as the company goes from strength to strength under the stewardship of Phil Birtwhistle, 36, whose parents Roger and Mary founded Priestgate Garden Specialists in 1982.  Joining the team as a 14-year-old, Phil has grown up with the business and says things are busier than ever before.

“As you might expect, I was always in and around the business from a tender age, so you could say I’ve always been green fingered,” said Phil, who took over as Managing Director in 2010, “I’ve watched the business grow over the years and with our recent awards success things have definitely moved up a level.

“With the challenges presented by COVID-19, homes and gardens have become a sanctuary to so many of us,” said Phil, “The project we delivered to our client in Dawley Bank had a real ‘wow’ factor and to have won a Garden Build Project of the Year award for it is just reward for the high standard of work we consistently deliver.”

Priestgate offers a wide range of services including landscaping, lawn care, tree surgery, decking, fencing, garden design, chemical weed control and general garden maintenance to customers large or small within a 30-mile radius of their Wrockwardine Wood base.  Phil sees their latest success as the foundation upon which to expand the business further.

“The plan is to become known as one of the best landscape gardening companies in the UK.  We’ve got a great team in place and these latest awards will give us all added drive to achieve this goal.”
