The Box Elder or Ash Leaf Maple
Latin Name : Acer negundo
This is a bushy-headed deciduous tree which doesn’t have the palmate leaf that we are used to seeing on an Acer tree. The Box Elder had pinnate leaves with 3 – 5 or sometimes 7 – 9 leaflets.
The leaves are quite a bright green above when they emerge, and are more pale beneath. It’s clear to see how it was given ‘Ash-Leaf Maple’ as one of its common names
Obviously a Maple when you see the seeds.
… and with quite a pleasant autumn leaf colour.
