Phormium
Latin Name : Phormium tenax – ‘The New Zealand Flax’
Phormium tenax is primarily a foliage plant which originates from New Zealand, and can be found in a whole variety of leaf colours. The leaves are exceptionally tough and hard to break, and can have sharp edges and the plants produce really tall flower stalks. The basic species is green and vigorous, and all Phormiums present with fiercely sharp serrated leaves.
Ornamental Variations
Fortunately there have been more ornamental introductions which are very useful . This one is Phormium tenax ‘Yellow Wave’.
