Harry Lauder Tree

Latin Name : Corylus avellana ‘Contorta’

The Harry Lauder Tree or Contorted Filbert was named after a well known early 20th centuary ‘variety’ performer dressed in traditional Scottish highland dress, walking bow-legged, and carrying a twisted hazel walking stick. It is a sport from a normal hazel, and is reproduced vegitatively.
